We left for work a bit later today and stopped at 7-11 to pick up some food to bring up to the office. I got noodles and shu mai. It was pretty good, I think the noodles alone would have been fine. We worked on our project in the morning, figuring out how to divide up the costs of services.
For lunch, I went to a kebab place. Ciara went to get some milk tea and I went over to get a kebab. It was basically a gyro, and tasted really good. I also got a Onion Bhaji, kind of an onion cake that had flour and other spices in it. It was tasty too, and came with a sauce that I think was mint and some cream type something. After lunch we went back to working on our project, but we had a few questions and our sponsor was really busy today, so we will talk to him tomorrow to get the questions answered so that we can move forward.
After work, we went with Ana to get yogurt, but once we got there we saw that they hadn't started their new special flavor yet (it was still caramel), so we went to a coffee shop instead. I didn't feel like getting anything to drink, but they had a butter bread pudding that looked good, so I got that. It was as good as it looked, had some raisins, and was really thick and creamy. When we finished we went back to our apartments to change and relax for a bit.
We had dessert first tonight, went over to a little shop near our apartments and got some mango dessert. It was a mango puree with small ice chips, little rice balls, and fresh mango. It was good, but it was also kind of expensive, I'm not sure that it was quite worth it. After we ate, Ciara and I were still hungry and we wanted something savory or salty so we went back to the street food stand. I got the same lobster rolls again, Ciara got something, and then we also got the dough and fish balls. This time they were starting to make them as we got there, it was really cool to see how they made them (video below). They poured some batter in the pan that had a bunch of half circles. Then they put a little piece of fish in each circle, and then covered the whole thing with chopped lettuce or cabbage. After they cooked for a bit, they used a little skewer to scrunch them up and then flipped them over. As they flipped each one, they squirted a little bit of batter in. They kept turning them and adding batter until they were big balls. They are so light and fluffy, definitely will go back at least one more time.
After we ate we stopped at Wellcome, the shopping market/grocery store that is all over Hong Kong. I picked up a bag of instant oatmeal, some rock sugar, and some raisins. I brought little individual serving packets of oatmeal but I only have a couple left. This will let me make the amount that I want, and I can buy less breakfast and eat this more instead. Maybe pick up one bun on the way to work to have as a late morning snack.
